Lucas Bergvall has committed his long-term future to Tottenham, signing a new contract that draws a line under months of transfer speculation surrounding the young Swedish midfielder.
The move brings to an end a saga that began in the summer, when Bergvall reportedly informed the club he wanted to leave after finding game time hard to come by under Roberto De Zerbi. Nottingham Forest saw a bid in the region of £38m turned down, while both Aston Villa and Chelsea were also credited with interest at various points.
Despite that uncertainty, and having featured for just 45 minutes in the Premier League so far this season, the 20-year-old has now opted to stay and extend his stay in north London.
