Duncan Ferguson Appointed Glentoran Manager on Multi-Year Deal

Former Everton and Rangers striker Duncan Ferguson has been appointed manager of Glentoran, taking charge of the Northern Irish club on a multi-year contract.

The 54-year-old succeeds Declan Devine, who left the east Belfast side in September. Former Dundee United team-mate Gary Bollan will join Ferguson as assistant manager, reuniting the pair after working together at Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

Ferguson arrives with extensive experience from English football, having served as assistant manager at Everton under Carlo Ancelotti and Rafael Benitez. He also took temporary charge of the Premier League club on two occasions before moving into management.

His previous managerial roles were at Forest Green Rovers and Inverness. His time at Forest Green lasted less than six months, while his spell at Inverness ended in October 2024 after the Scottish club entered administration.

Despite those challenges, Ferguson has made clear that he sees Glentoran as an opportunity to compete for silverware.

“I want to win trophies here,” he said. “Glentoran should be challenging for the title and every cup and shield we enter.”

He added that discussions with owner Ali Pour and sporting director Paul Millar convinced him that the club’s ambitions matched his own. Ferguson also intends to settle in Belfast and build relationships with the club’s supporters and wider community.
