Lucas Bergvall has signed a new contract with Tottenham, just three months after telling the club he wanted to leave. The 20-year-old Sweden midfielder had asked for a move over the summer following reduced playing time under Roberto De Zerbi, with Nottingham Forest having a £38 million bid rejected and Aston Villa and Chelsea also interested.
Terms weren't disclosed, though reports suggest his contract, which ran to 2031, has been extended by a further year with a pay increase. He's played just 45 minutes in the Premier League this season.
Bergvall said he felt the club was building something great, while De Zerbi said he believes the midfielder's best football is still ahead of him. Bergvall has made 80 appearances since joining from Djurgården in 2024, becoming the latest Spurs player to sign new terms after Micky van de Ven and Pedro Porro.
