Fleetwood Town have completed the signing of Brighton midfielder Josh Robertson on a loan deal running until 5 January. The move gives the 20-year-old his first taste of senior football, having yet to make his first-team debut for the Premier League club since joining from Sunderland in February 2024.
Robertson's start at Brighton was disrupted by injury problems, but his form for the club's Under-21 side has since caught attention, with a standout 2025-26 campaign that saw him contribute five goals and two assists in 16 appearances. He also captained Brighton's Under-21s to the Premier League 2 title last season, and had scored once in two EFL Trophy appearances at that level heading into this campaign.
Robertson's next challenge will be adapting to the demands of senior football, where he will be expected to translate his attacking qualities into consistent performances at League Two level. Regular first-team minutes should give the midfielder an opportunity to develop his decision-making and physical side of the game away from Brighton's academy environment.
Robertson could make his Fleetwood debut as early as Saturday, when the club host Shrewsbury Town in League Two.
