Jana Fernandez Signs New London City Lionesses Deal Until 2029

London City Lionesses have secured the long-term future of Spanish defender Jana Fernandez, with the 24-year-old signing a new  contract that keeps her at the club until the summer of 2029.

Fernandez joined London City from Barcelona in August 2025 and quickly became a key figure in the side's debut Women's Super League campaign, playing every match as the newly promoted club finished sixth — a result that also set a new record points tally for a first-season side in the competition. Her performances earned her the club's Fans' Player of the Season award for 2025-26, with standout numbers including the most interceptions in the squad, the highest tally of touches, and the second-most chances created behind Kosovare Asllani.

Reflecting on her decision to extend, Fernandez said she was delighted to sign the new deal, adding that when she arrived in England a year ago she had joined the club with genuine ambitions for the future. She described potential, excitement and progress as the three words she most associates with London City, saying she now feels settled and at home, and expressing enthusiasm about continuing to build something special alongside players, staff and supporters.

The move comes on the back of a busy summer of recruitment at London City, who have also brought in Fernandez's former Barcelona teammates Alexia Putellas and Mapi Leon, underlining the club's growing ambitions as they look to build on last season's promotion-winning campaign.
