
Republic of Ireland midfielder Jason Knight has become the first player from the national team to publicly say that Sunday's World Cup qualifying fixture against Israel should not be played.
Ireland are scheduled to face Israel in Debrecen, Hungary, at 19:45 BST on Sunday, with the reverse fixture due to take place in Bačka Topola, Serbia, on October 4. Both matches are being played behind closed doors.
Speaking after Ireland's 1-0 defeat by Kosovo in Pristina on Thursday, Knight acknowledged that the fixture will go ahead but made clear that he personally believes it should not.
