Bruno Fernandes’ Cheshire Home Burgled While Man Utd Captain Was in Italy

Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes’ home in Cheshire was burgled on Wednesday while he was in Italy for the club’s Champions League match against Como.

The Portugal international’s family were not at the property when the intruders broke in. According to reports, the suspects spent less than five minutes inside before police arrived.

Manchester United are understood to be supporting Fernandes following the incident. Cheshire Police have been contacted for comment, and further details about the investigation have yet to be confirmed.

Fernandes is the latest footballer to have his home targeted while away representing his club. Manchester City midfielder Ruben Dias and his former girlfriend, Maya Jama, experienced a similar incident in January while Dias was playing against Galatasaray in the Champions League.

Other footballers, including Jack Grealish, Raheem Sterling and Riyad Mahrez, have also been victims of burglaries in the Cheshire area.

Fernandes joined Manchester United from Sporting CP in January 2020 and has since become a key figure for the club.

The burglary occurred on a difficult night for the midfielder, whose side suffered a 4-1 defeat to Como. Fernandes subsequently criticised manager Michael Carrick’s tactics, but he is expected to retain the captaincy and will not face disciplinary action over his comments.
