Sarina Wiegman has committed her future to England’s women’s national team until the end of Euro 2029, extending her contract by two years as the Lionesses prepare for another major tournament.
The Dutch coach’s previous deal was due to expire after the 2027 Women’s World Cup in Brazil. Her new agreement gives the Football Association continuity under a manager who has led England to back-to-back European Championship titles.
Wiegman guided the Lionesses to victory at Euro 2022 and retained the trophy at Euro 2025, when England defeated Spain in the final. She has also taken the team to the 2023 Women’s World Cup final, where they lost 1-0 to Spain.
“I am so happy to be able to carry on with this squad and cannot think of a better job in football,” Wiegman said, adding that working with the FA and people committed to developing the women’s game continued to motivate her.
FA chief executive Mark Bullingham praised her record in major competitions and said she was the right person to lead England into their next two tournaments. He also highlighted her influence on the wider development of women’s football.
